Sweeps, sludges & residues

Umicore offers advanced recycling solutions for a wide range of precious metal-bearing materials, including sweeps, sludges and residues. 

Sweeps typically consist of fine particles generated during the incineration or milling of items like rags, wipes, silver-containing films and other scrap materials. These can be rich in precious metals and are carefully processed at Umicore for maximum recovery.

Sludges and residues come from various base metal, precious metal and PGM smelting and refining operations as well as mines. Umicore samples each material stream with tailored sampling and assaying techniques and ensures efficient and sustainable metal reclamation.
