Cobalt & Speciality Materials (CSM)
Mastering the cobalt value chain. Umicore’s expertise covers the sourcing, production and distribution of cobalt and nickel products. Umicore’s materials are at the heart of products we use every day such as rechargeable batteries, tools, paints and tyres. Our recycling and refining processes give new life to cobalt and other metals and reduce environmental impacts. To meet the demands of our customers we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new ideas. Which is where you come in.
What you will be doing
In this role of Process Engineer, you warrant the successful technological completion of each project phase with regard to the project goals, objectives and expectations of all stakeholders. You streamline and improve production processes in cooperation with R&D, the Project Engineering Department, Maintenance and the Production team. You further ensure the follow up of new products and process development
As a Process Engineer, you will…
- continuously review and improve existing production processes including production layout
- dedicated increase production performance in terms of lead time, efficiencies, cost, quality and safety & environment
- identify and manage process improvement projects in collaboration with the different teams active in Production, R&D, Maintenance and Project engineering
- co-ordinate all process related tasks in the different phases of a project and assure that the best available technologies are implemented
- develop and maintain contracts with process engineering service suppliers in close cooperation with P&T
- realize the process technology part of the project within the agreed planning & budget and assure that all process technical performances are met
We are looking for a colleague who…
- holds a degree in engineering in metallurgy or chemistry
- has working experience in an industrial environment
- is familiar with (hydro)metallurgical processes
- has excellent communication skills in Dutch and English; knowledge of French and/or German is an asset
- has a safety, quality and environmental mind-set to achieve results
- is a perseverant problem solver who is committed to results
- has good organizing skills and is able to take decisions and able to work in an autonomous way
- is a respectful, creative and assertive team player with a hands-on mentality
