About Cobalt & Speciality Materials (CSM)

Mastering the cobalt value chain. Umicore’s expertise covers the sourcing, production and distribution of cobalt and nickel products. What you will be doing

As Plant & Site Controller you will be in charge of the controlling tasks and consolidation of the Inorganics activities (Business Line Inorganics) and act as controller for both the Olen plant (Belgium) and the Subic plant (Philippines) within the CSM business unit. You will manage the critical Co & Ni flows and partner up with other business units. You will also participate in global projects, strategic Business Unit files and ad hoc controlling tasks where, depending on the size and scope of the project/task, you will act as project leader.

You will also be responsible for the controlling tasks related to the site Olen and will thus take up a cross-BU role. You collaborate closely with the Direction team of the Olen site and with the other business units on site (EOM, CRD, BM). 

Responsibilities:

Plant controlling CSM Olen

• In charge of the monthly follow up & variance analysis of the results of CSM Olen versus budget/forecast. Analyse & explain results and financial indicators to the MT CSM/BL Inorganics.
• In charge of the coordination and making of the forecasts and budget of the CSM Olen activities.
• Make performance & variance analysis for P&L, CAPEX and working capital.  
• Actively manage risk considerations or market events towards the need for accruals or provisions.
• Assess and quantify the sensitivities, to support the strategic hedging decision process or any other mitigating action that might be decided.

Site & utilities controlling Olen

• Monthly follow up & variance analysis of the Olen site costs versus budget/forecast. Analyse & explain results to the direction team in Olen and other stakeholders on site.
• In charge of the coordination and making of the forecasts and budget for the Olen site.
• Review of the monthly calculations of utility prices as prepared by the GFS accountant.  Review, analyse and explain the budgeted/forecasted tariffs. Act as contact person in all financial aspects of utility projects, be it internal or with third parties.

Operational transfer pricing BL I&D:

• Calculation of quarterly transfer prices between Umicore SA and Distribution entities (Palm, Todini). Perform actual TP testing and take corrective actions if/where needed.

Plant controlling Subic

• In charge of the monthly follow up & variance analysis of the Subic results versus budget/forecast. Analyse & explain results and financial indicators to the MT CSM/BL Inorganics.
• In charge of the coordination and making of the forecasts and budget of the Subic activity.
• Make performance & variance analysis for P&L, CAPEX and working capital.  

Lead the Olen production process analyst team

• Oversee all Olen flows and acts as coordinator between production process analyst, the metal accountant and the metal reporting & hedging manager.
• Ensure further development of controlling process and systems.

Who we are looking for

Requirements:

• 5+ years in Controlling and Finance including an ideally with an understanding of metal exposure and flows

• A master’s degree, in Economics, Business Management or Commercial science

• Experience with operations controlling and complex material flows
• Understanding of conceptual finance & controlling flows and set-ups
• Keen on IT software applications for Controlling and Finance, SAP modules knowledge
• Understanding of primary IFRS
• Fluent in English and Dutch
• Project management skills and experience

• Strong analytical and business partnering skills
• Pragmatic, hands on mentality
• Excellent communicator, orally and in writing in a multicultural environment
• Ability to deal with complex flows and communicate complex matters in a concise and accessible way
