What you will be doing

 

Responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental health & safety processes and procedures for site compliance with regulatory and Umicore requirements, including applicable OSHA regulations. Assist in transforming the culture of UOM and contribute to the transformation of IR optics and EOM environmental, health and safety culture.

 

  • Define with the local team the site EHS roadmap and translate it into an annual action plan
  • Animate EHS on site and support the local management team to animate EHS in their respective department.
  • Act as a change leader in raising the bar on environmental, health and safety and making the team raise the bar
  • Deploy corporate initiatives and translate them into local meaningful ones
  • Support the management team in investigating accidents and learn from them
  • Responsible for compliance with all federal, state and local EHS regulations.
  • Develop and monitor Environmental, Health & Safety programs for compliance and effectiveness.
  • Support the operational people to execute risk assessments on new/adapted installations and machines in the field of safe use and conformity with the applicable legislation, makes a report and gives advice (PSSR, JSA..)
  • Organize and oversee EHS improvement efforts for the site, including increased EHS awareness and occupational/process hazard elimination and/or mitigation.
  • Responsible for all Umicore and regulatory EHS reporting requirements, including monthly and annual KPIs.
  • Responsible for organizing all EHS inspections and audits to ensure satisfactory conditions of the site.
  • Responsible for conducting or coordinating all required EHS training, as required, and monitoring the effectiveness.
  • Innovates on EHS approaches in fields of procedures, systems in alignment with global EOM Business Unit
  • Maintain, support and guide site environmental, health and safety program to include audits, training and employee involvement.
  • Local point of contact and liaison for internal communications regarding industrial hygiene results or incidents.

Education and/or Experience  

 

  • Associates degree in a related field plus a minimum of five years HS experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment; or minimum of five years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work instructions and procedure manuals
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and experience with an ERP System, Inventory software, Manufacturing software, and Spreadsheet software. Individual must also be proficient in all major Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
  • Working knowledge of SAP a plus.
